Bringing History to Life Through Illustration at The Tank Museum

This summer, our talented graphic designer, Sara, took on a unique and rewarding challenge for The Tank Museum in Bovington, Dorset.

She created a 1.8 x 1.2 metre illustrated mural design for the museum’s education room – a large-format piece developed to help schools and young visitors step back in time and experience history in a more engaging way.

Bringing WWII Stories to Life Through Illustration

The finished mural captures two contrasting WWII landscapes, each telling a different story of wartime life:

Daytime in the countryside – reflecting the quieter, everyday moments of life during the war.
Night in the city – illustrating the resilience of those who endured the terror of air raids.

With over 50 hours of detailed illustration work, Sara blended history and creativity to spark imagination, encourage learning for young audiences. The mural was installed in late August and is now welcoming schools for the new academic year.
