Light On Campaign for Men’s Mental Health in DorsetEmily
Supporting Men’s Mental Health across the South Coast.
Here at BCP we are proud to announce our partnership with Light On, a movement in Dorset to combat the stigma surrounding men’s mental health and to prevent people suffering alone. We have joined forces with other local businesses and charities including Dorset Mind to support this campaign that is working to generate meaningful conversations about mental health.
The founder of Light On, Andrew Coleman says, “It is time to put an end to the silent struggle among men because of the stigma about talking when you’re not coping very well. This silence is leading to pain, suffering and suicide – and it has to stop. This campaign will save people’s lives because it will make it okay for people to have a conversation and ask for help.”
Andrew collaborated with a group of men who all met through the local charity Dorset Mind and wanted to help other men who may be struggling along in silence. This is how the Light On movement formed and it has continued to gain momentum since, with more and more local establishments supporting the cause.
BCP Media Group Managing Director, Ian Shenton, comments; “We’re proud to be a part of this campaign among successful fellow businessmen in Dorset, supporting and raising awareness of men’s mental health through whatever means we can.”
Generating conversations surrounding mental health and providing guidance on how to support someone who is struggling are very beneficial to the Dorset community as everyone knows someone who has experienced difficulties with mental health at some point. Training and workshops will be offered once the campaign has found its footing and gained enough support to establish these services. The movement is set to run for 5 years across Dorset, reaching hundreds of thousands of people in the process. Show your support in any way you can, along with BCP Media Group, AFC Bournemouth, Osprey, Dorset Mind and many more local establishments.
